Community Center Construction Underway

The transformation of the Creedmoor Community Center has begun, as the $5.4 million renovation project officially kicked-off construction in June with work by Harrod & Associates. Their construction bid was approved at the April 8, 2019 Board of Commissioners meeting.

Once complete, the Community Center at 108 East Wilton Avenue will include a new 15,000 square foot gymnasium as well as improved senior center facilities. Funding for the project is provided by the City of Creedmoor in addition to a $500,000 grant from the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF), and a $350,000 grant from Granville County. Community Center construction is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2020.

The existing gym will be renovated to include direct access from the senior center, a large multi-purpose space suitable for group events, an arts and crafts room, a computer center, fitness rooms, offices, and a classroom.Community Center Construction

The improved senior center will see an enlarged group dining area, the addition of an enclosed sunroom and deck overlooking the multi-purpose field, and a covered entrance in front.

Further enhancements include restoring the previously bricked-in windows, paving the existing gravel parking lot, and bringing both buildings up to current construction standards for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and accessibility.

Please note the following relocations during construction:

  • Open Gym has moved to First Baptist Church (108 South Main Street), Thursdays only, 6-8 p.m.
  • Granville County Senior Center will meet at South Granville Country Club (2539 Sam Moss Hayes Road)
  • DMV Mobile Unit has relocated to the City Hall Boardroom (111 Masonic Street), first Thursday of each month, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Creedmoor Farmers Market will be at the Good Samaritan Thrift Store parking lot (307 E. Wilton Ave.) on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
