Each March, local basketball fans can set aside their heated NCAA March Madness rivalries to raise money for local charity and support local high school students and law enforcement!  The Creedmoor Police Department, students from South Granville High School, and other local law enforcement personnel come together for the annual March Mayhem Battle of the Blues charity basketball tournament.  This eight-team tournament pits South Granville High School students against South Granville High School Faculty and law enforcement officers from the Creedmoor Police Department, Granville County Sheriff’s Office, and Vance County Sheriff’s Office.

Charity funds are raised with a $5 admission price, concessions, and raffle tickets for a 50/50 cash drawing plus a grand prize.  All proceeds from the 2019 event were donated to the Special Olympics of North Carolina.

According to Police Chief Keith King, this event “helps foster a sense of community between our citizens and law enforcement.  We are thankful to our sponsors each year as well as the cooperation of South Granville High School and our partner law enforcement agencies in Granville, Vance, and Franklin counties.”

March Mayhem, along with other outreach events like Shop with a Cop, National Night Out, and Main Street Trick-or-Treat shows the commitment of the Creedmoor Police Department to building long-lasting bonds with the youth in our community.
